Yep, policy of neglect (both for car and teeth (rest of body for that matter )) Just not had time to stop last couple of months, but work/life balance is improving now . Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Volvo V70 P2 2006 2.4 Petrol 170bhp Estate SE MG Midget Mk1 1962 Previous: L322 Range Rover TDV8 3.6 2008; L322 Range Rover TD6 3.0 2002; P38A Range Rover V8 1999 |

I use neutral a lot when waiting at lights etc. Hope this doesn't cause any problems. Similar to what Stan said when left on drive you can hear the engine pushing. FFRR TD6 HSE

Have you lubricated the Gear Selector Mechanism under the car next to the Gearbox as set out in another thread on here (by me plus I put in WIKI). If your Mechanism is corroded/Sticky it may not be fulling moving the gearbox into park and therefore leaving you halfway between gears....

A good thing is that I have now got into the habit of going to neutral then handbrake when I stop at lights etc, instead of just flinging it into PARK. Even doing it on my other autos. Recommend the same to others if not already doing so.

Also just to report that this repair has or appears to have resolved my intermittent "TRANS FAILSAFE PROG" message I was getting, coupled with fluttering in and out of gear, whilst driving along. (Not related to my getting stuck on Low Range problem)
