Fair enough. It is generally the most common cause of cupped tyres. Other causes can be wrongly inflated tyres or wheels out of balance etc. Some tyre patterns are more prone to cupping than others. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

My RR is back from the garage and yup, apparently the tires need re-balancing.

The vibration is so bad it caused the 'Air Susp Inactive' error just 1 hour after it was cleared Big Cry

I shall post the results after I get it done this weekend Thumbs Up

Update: Had the wheels balanced and they definitely needed doing.

BUT

No Effect!, problem still there, the garage will book a specialist for next week

my money is on your torque converter this gives you a shudder like going over a cattle grid but not as bad, do you find it if you give the car more throttle from a stand still and keep it in the higher revs it does not do it or is lighter vibration,

My car is doing exactly this vibration like going over a cattle grid but not as bad and it makes only in first, second and third gear, fourth and fifth no problems. At highway speeds there´s no vibration at all. Vibration is felt manely at high revs, on the firts three gears, If I´m gentle with throtle it never happens, but it becomes even more noticeble up hills when power is needed. J.Seven

Well I just took a call from Guy Salmon, they have the parts in, so I'm booked in for Friday.

I'm not that confident that it will solve my issue, but at least it will rule out the diff.

If it doesn't solve it, it's back to the seller again.

The main dealer replaced the front diff and new Diff CV joint.

Still has the same issue Arrow

This morning I just spent £115 on tracking and camber adjustment, as they said it was a long way out.

Still has the same issue Arrow

Well two Techs from LR came out and we drove around for 30 mins.

They both agreed that it only happens when it drops into 4th gear.

Therefore gearbox issue Big Cry

They quoted 3k for a new replacement, but they are on back order which probably won't be till nearly Christmas!!

The dealer where I bought the car from once again has been true to his word and booked me in to a gearbox specialist for Monday morning.

I knew it would be the one of the most expensive parts Neutral Mine does exactly the same.. second it hits 4th..

Hope you get it sorted Paul Thumbs Up

Mine has been at the dealers since Saturday and I haven't heard back from them yet.. luckily the dealer said they'll sort it out no matter what, even if the warranty runs out which is around now.

Funny thing is my gearbox was re-conditioned no so long ago, although I have noticed clunky down changes and it refused to move up a gear just last week Censored

Does anyone know if the newer 8 speed gearboxes can be put in a 2002 TD6? Very Happy

UPDATE

It spent all day at the gearbox specialist who are 100% certain it's not gearbox related.

It was then transferred to a LR specialist who are also certain it's not gearbox related.

The latest theory is engine mounts.

They are saying there is a slight vibration at idle and it progressively gets worse at higher RPM

I haven't noticed this, but since the problem has been there from my first day of ownership I have nothing to compare against.

Fingers crossed for some good news tomorrow

The gearbox man did on Monday, apart from him, no.
