What are they thinking?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14726189 <-- I think they've got all confused and shown us a picture of a Freelander crossed with a D4 ... or a 5 year olds attempt at playing with Photoshop....

Reminds me of the Toyota TJ Cruiser but with a sloping pedestrian friendly nose..................

Typical BBC quality. Full of absolute rubbish!

"The current Defender was first introduced in 1948" - Really!? I think not.

"The DC100 isn't a production-ready concept" - So this whole article is based on what then?

"Land Rover will release an all-new version of its Defender model in 2015" - True, but it wont be based on the DC100.

There are many varients floating around claiming to be the new version:

Even more utter rubbish from the BBC on this page too....................

Evoque might be better "on some surfaces" (by which I think they mean on the road) than a Defender it sure as hell won't be anywhere near as good off the road as a Defender, although I reckon that L322 is better off road than a Defender but it's width and lardy weight mean it cannot get to half the places the Defender can go to and even the oldest L322's are still a bit too nice to be taking into Defender country. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I agree, and that's about the only reason why you dont find them "mud plugging"

An old V8 RRC will wee all over a 110, especially the 4spd auto with LSD. A P38 is supremely capable off road, with an awesome engine, great gearbox & coupled with ETC and EAS it will go far more places than even a 90 - so long as you dont mind bashing the hell out of it.

I'd say the Disco & FFRR are equally as capable, followed by the Defender & Freelander - even then, I would rather have the freelander in the snow than the heavy defender. I'm not sure where the evoque sits in the lineup, I imagine along side the freelander.

I spent my childhood being bounced around in the back of various LR products whilst family members (mum -RRC, gran - S3, grandad S2-S3 , uncle - Custom trialers etc etc) competed in AWDC events.

The best imho: a LR 101, V8 with huge wheels, massive ground clearance and loads of space in the back.

Dan at the offloading events I go to it's amazing how many bobtailed P38's are appearing on the scene, but even with standard wheelbase there are loads now being used as off road toys 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

What a PoS, It's not been well received on the Land Rover Facebook page either.

Land Rover?s Design Director Gerry McGovern who headed up the design team would be better suited working for KIA or SSong.

Looks like a KIA Cube or whatever they're called. Awful. My TD5 will be living on well beyond 2015 all being well.
