Reduced Engine Performance

Now that im a member of the sc club, my membership wouldn't be complete unless i was broken down on the M4 awaiting recovery!

While i accept this is all part of ownership, couldn't it have done it at a slightly less inconvenient time/place?

I'm guessing it's the auxiliary coolant pump to the sc. Hopefully no damage done...

Just got home. drove off transporter perfectly with no messages. MIL remained on. Neither Rover all comms or my obdc reader want to read the code. 99% sure its the auxiliary coolant pump.

Dan, Speak to Wiggs and get the Digital Tuner fitted. Then you can watch QVC on the hard shoulder next time.... Current MY2020

Yawn.

Booked into my indy, he ordered the Aux coolant pump today and will fit it tomorrow.

Then I should be back supercharging everywhere.

Hi Dan,

What symptoms indicate it's the auxiliary coolant pump?

Cheers

"Reduced Engine Performance" message on a SC RR is 99% caused by this.

A large proportion of 2005-2007 SC RR's had the electric coolant pump wired the wrong way round, being a centrifugal pump it doesn't do it any favours running back-wards so leads to early failure.

You can test your aux coolant pump by activating the "Rest Heating" function - Outside temp less than 15C, after turning off and taking key out of ign press "max ac", make sure after a few minutes the air coming out the vents is hot. If it's cool/cold then the pump doesn't work/is wired incorrectly.

The fix is to correct the wiring (if your car is affected) and replace the pump if wired back-wards (even if it still works, it wont last much longer)

As mentioned in many of my posts this has happened to me. Fairly simply job to replace when I did mine and no problems since. Just a shame I had. To find out myself as th garages didn't have a clue.

It's your posts that helped guide me to a resolution whilst sat on the M4, so thanks for taking the time to put the info on the forum.

As long as this is resolved in mine tomorrow I might drop you a PM to arrange some sort of writeup for the WiKi if that's OK? It would be good to get the info in one place...

Thanks,

Dan
