Airbag warning light

The airbag warning light occasionally lights up. Sometimes it will come on during a journey, if I stop for a short time it is usually off when I restart. Most of the time the light is not on but now and then it comes on. The light on my old Discovery was on permanently for 3 years so I am not overly concerned by this. But I am wondering if this is something I should really worry about. There are quite a few bags in my car, I don't think any are in danger of going off on their own! But maybe I am being too cavalier about this Shocked

Any thoughts? No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

i think when the light comes on the airbag system is disabled. so not the best in a crash. I'm not sure if ALL are disabled or just the one causing the fault. Confused [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I believe a lit airbag warning lamp is about to be an MOT failure - if it's not already.

The fact that yours is intermittent is interesting, as I had thought that any transient airbag fault would disable the system until the dealer re-enables it. Is there anyone local who can pull the fault code for you to to help diagnose the actual problem, if not it may be time for a trip to the dealers.

mine did the same , intermittent on/off...found out it was the passenger side occupancy sensor under the seat cushion...the wife jiggled her bum on the seat and the light flickered on and off...

Come to think of it I don't recall it ever doing it when I was driving on my own, but I may be wrong. Do you remember how muchit cost to diagnose and get repaired? No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

Germany 2004 Range Rover HSE Td6 Zambezi Silver

Hi,

I am getting the same fault, with airbag light coming on and off. Plugged in my GAP tool, getting the "seat occupancy sensor" error. GAP tool erases the error, but it's just coming back.

Does anyone know the ref of the faulty sensor, and how to change it. Just can't find this on the internet, I did find on ebay a bypass for the sensor but for BMW, I don't know if this would be useful.

Thanks,

Ok, so after a deep search, found out that the ID of the seat sensor is HGI000010 , this is a BMW part 65778367242-05.

Seems like there is a cheap bypass possible solution for 20€, but for the BMW, should work for L322 too I believe?

for the sake of around £100 wouldnt it be better to have a working airbag and replace the seat sensor... ... - .- -.

I agree with you, but the bypass doesn't prevent the airbag from working, just tells the sensor that someone is sitting there all the time. Anyway, if the BMW part 65778367242 (X5 and Z3 part) works on the range rover, you can find some on ebay for less then 25€
