Picked up my 56 TDV8 Vogue - First Impressions & Questio

Hi all

I picked up a very nice 56 plate TDV8 Vogue on Friday, 52k miles, black with black. I was a little worried that i would be frustrated after purchase because i have had a few FFRR and also a RRS and had various frustrations with each of them ranging from leaking in water, poor weather seals, peeling trim to just being unhappy (the RRS).

Anyway i have to say what an improvement the facelift interior is and the ride the TDV8 gives is fabulous, i am very happy with the purchase and the fuel economy is great, all of my previous RR's were petrol. The facelift car feels so much better in every way, i am so pleased with it.

I do have a few questions:-

1. My Blackberry will pair up but doesnt automatically do it when i enter the RR, i have to enter the 2121 code each time. It also wont transfer my contact list across, are these related to the software version being a bit out of date?

2. It has 22" wheels fitted with 285/35/22 tyres and there is a slight steering wobble at 50 - 60 mph, is this the balancing of the big wheels?. The 22" wheels feedback a lot through the steering, is this the norm when they are fitted?. Im thinking of dropping back to 2010 OEM Vogue style but the 22" are brand new and do set the RR off well.

3. Service work was carried out by an indy (the garage owners own car) so i have receipts for the work done, is there a service schedule sheet online that details what should be done and when. The receipts make reference to filters, oil etc but i want to know what else was needed upto 50k miles / 4 years old?.

4. I am considering the new 2010 Range Rover lettering which looks brighter but at £70 for the pair its a bit pointless when the existing ones are fine, has anyone done this and can feedback their opinion of the results?

5. The Brembo calipers are factory dull grey but have oxidised and look poor, is there a fix to bring them back to life again?

6. I have thought about removing the trim from the bottom of the rear window like the 2010 RR, is the trim a simple slide off removal or will it damage something?

7. Can i change the green LR air bag badge to a S/C one without problems?.

Thanks

Carl

OK.

1. Yes, find member WIGGS on disco3.co.uk. He does exchange bluetooth units.

2. Plenty on here about the pros and cons of 22" wheels.

5. Mine too. I am looking at buying a spare set when some come up on the bay and then giving them to these people.

Re: Picked up my 56 TDV8 Vogue - First Impressions & Que

2. I ran Overfinch 22's with Toyo 285/35/'s on my old car & they were fine - worth getting them balanced. I have 2010 'Style 19' wheels now.

4. I replaced the lettering for the new 2010 shiny ones - but I did the whole facelift - not sure I'd bother with just the lettering.

7. The steering wheel badge levers off but be careful as it has kind of tabs that bend round behind it so slowly does it. I glued the new one on - easy enough

Alistair, were your wheels genuine Overfinch or replicas?. I'm sure mine are replicas, its as if the unsprung weight on each corner has changed, almost like the wheels are bouncing around.

I can get them balanced again but each tyre place I spoke to paused before answering when i ask about 22" which suggests they don't know how to do it properly. The steering has a light shimmy at around 55 mph but the wheels have budget tyres on so it may affect the ride quality also?.

Where did you get the 2010 lettering from and how much if you don't mind me asking?.

Ive looked on eBay for S/C air bag badges and didn't see any, are they a genuine LR item or aftermarket?

Carl, look at this link

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-spor..._730wt_922

it says it is for the RRS or Disco, but the badges are the same throughout the models and should fit the FFRR. I have ordered one and will let you know when my car comes back from the dealers at the end of this week if they are the same fit.

Simon

Mine were genuine - I had the newer Tigers with Overfinch cast into one of the spokes

I can't remember the breakdown, I had it all done with the facelift - Lee Clark did a great job - http://www.clarkspremierbespoke.co.uk/
