I had a 911 (996) C2 for about 6 months or so.
For all it was a fabulous car, I just couldn't get to grips with it. Because it has the engine in the back and is rear wheel drive, I always had the feeling that the front was too light and never really felt as planted on the road as it probably was. Having had a Boxster before the 911, it seemed a natural progression, but having driven both (I had the Boxster for nearly 2 years), I would choose the Boxster for a weekend plaything. I also have a friend who wnet from a Boxster to a Cayman and loves it. Might be a bit out of your price range with it being relatively new. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I'm looking for a 2000+ carrera 2 or 4 with 3.6 preferably engine.

Apparently the 3.4 is ok if it's had it's main seals done etc usually it would have been done under warranty.

I'm trying to find out how reliable they are assuming FSH with 80k miles

Anything to worry about or look for especially CURRENT : FFRR 2012 4.4 TDV8

They are pretty much bullet proof, as long as they have been serviced regularly. As tboner said, the rear oil seal can be an issue, the seal itself is not expensive but the job to do it is! Many have been fixed or uprated now by companys such as Autobahn.

Even if the RMS (Rear Main Seal) has been replaced, it's still no guarantee that it wont happen again, since it's a design problem that never seemed to be resolved.

It's taken Porsche years to officially concede there's a possibility of a problem. They now offer an sliding scale of "goodwill" token gestures up to 100% of the cost, but never actually admiting there's a problem. Most people have the clutch changed at the same time as the gearbox needs to come off to replace the seal. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
