Seems to be about 5mpg up on the 3.6 TDV8, which was what Land Rover claimed.

I know, awesome. 3.6TDV8 was and still is an excellent engine when you take into things like size and weight as you say. |

I reckon that the L405 will be 5mpg at least up on that. 30 around town and 40 on a run. Just my guess. |

I think you are right. Shaving 400 to 500kg off the weight alone will make a big difference. Plus it'll probably get a stop-start system. |

Came back from Northern Holland to Calais last week , average was 68MPH over 265 miles so you can guess i was not hanging about , was amazed the 4.4 returned 28MPG at worst it has just got better and better now its up to 4k on the clock Far to many gone... |

My previous Range Rover was a 3.6TDV8 is was doing 21.8 MPG.My 4.4 TDV8 has now covered 16,500 miles and has so far returned 22.8 MPG this is lower than I was expecting.Agree with what many have said on here in terms of the performance though, considering the size of the vehicle it really is a revelation. My father runs a 4.0d X5 and whislt the stats suggest it to be a very fast jeep it really doesn't (to me) feel any slower than the Range Rover. |

I think he is cheesed off with people refering to 4x4s of any specific make as "jeeps".

Sorry, didn't mean to appear tw@ish, just I drive a Range Rover not a jeep, and it's not a truck, although it can sometimes appear truck like. Just my pedantry. |
