[Wanted] L322 Deployable Side Steps

I'm on the hunt for a set of deployable side steps for my 2010 L322 in good condition, ideally with very little rust and free moving hinges.

I only require the mechanicals as my vehicle was originally fitted with them but the previous owner removed them but left all the wiring in place.

Thanks! 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC

Good luck with finding a decent set that actually works. You could get lucky but they are like rocking horse Censored

Some do come up for sale on here but not very often. I did sell a set last year and got £750 for them.

Thanks for reaching out David, I had seen those for sale on a popular online auction site. I'm up in Inverness so still a little bit of a distance down to you but not an impossible drive.

The brackets/motors are maybe a little rustier than I would have liked but I've got the facilities to have them blasted and repainted at home. I only wonder how easily they can actually be dismantled to component form as I remember seeing other forum posts about people struggling to even lubricate the pivot points when they seize.

I'll do some research and have a think.

Also would you be open to sell the steps without the loom, module and switch or rather it go as a whole?

I doubt you will any cleaner than David's. I had mine removed a couple of weeks ago as the driver side was sticking. I was going to clean them up and try to recommission them. A couple of Range Rover specialists told me to scrap them as they are nothing but trouble and I can see why. The motor housing in particular seems to rust badly - must be made of Chinese Chinesium. Moving mechanical parts under a vehicle for 10-15 years and it is going to give problems.

The brackets themselves aren't rusty, it's just the crap paint finish that's on the motors from new that's flaked off.

The steps are sitting in my workshop and have had the hinges oil periodically to stop them seizing whilst not on a car so as far as that side of it goes I'm fairly confident there wouldn't be any issues.

My car has the steps on it already and I'm happy to plug them into my car at some point and operate them to make sure that they're moving freely.

As for splitting the kit I'd really rather not as the wiring loom, ECU and console switch all become pretty useless without the steps themselves unfortunately.

With all due respect Martin, why are you so worried about the cosmetics of the brackets considering they are attached under the car and you won't see them. In all fairness I don't think you'll find better than David's set for sale unless you find brand new. As long as you give them a damn good clean and make sure they are well lubed, then you won't have a problem. Just fit and forget with a bit of lubrication now and then.

Fair enough Barmybrummie, we all have different standards when it comes to what we’re happy bolting onto our cars.

I understand David, I'll send you a PM this evening. 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC
