Car Play?

I don't want to be controversial (not that I give a damn) but what am I missing by not having Car Play. I realise I could have it by ripping my dash out and spending a few £k but will that get me anything I don't currently have? Geoff

Let’s be honest—the infotainment system in the Range Rover leaves a lot to be desired. CarPlay's integration of mobile apps, especially navigation ones, as well as Apple Music or YouTube Music (and just phone, really), is where it really shines. Honestly, if I couldn’t have CarPlay in mine, I’d just invest in a budget-friendly add-on screen to stick on the dashboard and use that. It’s that good! Oh, and let’s not forget Android Auto! Remember that you’ll also benefit from software updates for as long as your phone lasts...

I couldn't live without it now. The maps integration, streaming music, audio books etc. I also couldn't really see the point of wireless Android Auto at first but that's another essential now. The facts it's just always available as soon as you get in the car. For me it's the best upgrade to a car I've ever done. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

I don't doubt it's better butI think this is maybe horses for courses, I can't see how having carplay will improve my listening to Radio 2 and Radio 4 on FM. The nav is a bit slow and out of date but for most of my trips I don't need it, I've never really had any problems with the phone and as for streaming music I just select my iPhone as the source - but not very often. I do occasionally use Waze on the phone and it works fine. So I'm not sure that pulling my car to bits and spending £1000s will improve things. Geoff

You asked what it got you. We answered. If you don't care about those things then of course, stick with what you have. Thumbs Up

I don't do that many miles but for me, the access to Google Maps / Waze is worth it on its own.

If / when I get back in an L322 or early 405 it'll be one of the first things I do! Laughing 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
