Hi,

I have a 2005 Petrol 4.4 V8 (Jaguar Engine) and its about to turn a 100,000 miles and i would like to have the gearbox serviced and in two minds as to what to do.

My options are as follows

1) power flush to remove and change 97% of the ATF Fluid

2) Change the filter and clean the magnets and refill with approx 6 litres of ATF (approx 50%) at my local LR Specialist

Your thoughts on the above would really be appreciated as i can't make my mind up as to which way to go on this.....

But 20 litres af ATF change the filter and triple flush

No its the first of the Jaguar based engines...

I've had a really big service with additional works to include the spark plugs and transfer box oil changed.

Changing the air filter has made a huge difference as it was really badly clogged up

Just the gearbox know needs attention as it can be a little clonky at times

I changed my filter and ATF last year, I'm going to do another double flush in the next month or so for complete piece of mind

Can i ask you Did you feel the difference?

i.e was it smoother and quieter and did it eliminate any clonky gear changes?

Can't answer you on that one, I didn't have any issues with my box to start with, but I do like preventative maintenance hence the oil flush this year again

Just thought i'd post an update on this.........

Transmission oil and filter changed last Thursday at Heywoods. I inspected the magnets held in the pan and they were very clean.

In hindsight i would have had a powerflush and had 97% of the oil changed.

I am monitoring my average mpg at the moment because it seems to have vastly improved. I will let you know if this changes.
