United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

Great url with lpg forum I will completely read soon. But sounds very very similar to my issue initially. Mine was 5k to do the engine rebuild. I had even sent them the valve clearances pre rebuild to show that it needed to be reshimmed.

Unfortunately they told me it was hydraulic tappets in my engine (which was later prvoven inaccurate) so they couldnt measure clearances post build which I thought was odd. They also reused some gaskets which I think is a little naughty for an engine rebuild.

SO I feel I have paid close to 5k and more post rebuild to try and rectify my issues. Now I feel that due to an experienced LR mechanic confirming post build tolerances were worse that this complete rebuild was a big waste of time and they didnt actually sort out what I asked for in the first place, which was to bring everything back into tolerance.

This so far has been a nightmare however Im so invested in the vehicle now and cant just sell it and certainly couldnt sell it in its current state and the guilt would destroy me. Range Rover Vogue SE 2007 L322 4.2 Supercharged 121k. Engine rebuilt @ 120666 Miles

I know that feeling.

In the last 12 months, mine has had a gearbox, transfer box, 4 tyres, 2 new diffs, 4 new wheel bearings, and every single bush and ball joint will have been replaced when I get it back together this time around!

So to update a settlement has been agreed out of court and I need a new company to bring valve clearances back into tolerance.

Anyone know a reputable place in the Birmingham area? Range Rover Vogue SE 2007 L322 4.2 Supercharged 121k. Engine rebuilt @ 120666 Miles

Yes I did.

I had it re-shimmed. Now its 25,000 miles late on LPG and I am taking the gas out as its seeing large VSR Valve Seat Recession. Please see link and picture below.

Hope you find it interesting.

So 25,000 miles later after shim/bucket engine rebuild on LPG on my Range Rover 4.2L L322 2007 Supercharged we have measured Valve Seat Recession. I have also completed a compression test to check pistons.

See attachment for measurements...

1. At rebuild stage
2. After approx. 25,000 miles run on LPG
3. I used Flashlube (Valvesaver)

I believe I will re-shim again however I have decided to remove the LPG buy new inlet manifolds and keep the car for as long as possible. Just thought those looking to LPG might find this data useful if making decisions on whether to adopt LPG. I have used a Prins VSI 2.0 system with auto valve dosser. @ £2500.

So even with the dosser we still see VSR Big Cry

Many Thanks.

Interesting, although doc won't open using my android phone,

I've had my 4.2sc on lpg for 12 years now added 80000 miles, no issues thus far with vsr, but I do have petrol slip streaming as an addition to lpg for 4ms once past 2900 rpm.

And use marine 2 stroke as valve saver fluid.

Hi Dingg1

Very interesting. I have updated picture so hopefully you can see table of info.

I drove mine very carefully on LPG and if I wanted to give her some life I'd switch to petrol before giving it some. So I am surprised you have done so well with yours. Just a little bit envious and gutted.

What LPG system are you using? Range Rover Vogue SE 2007 L322 4.2 Supercharged 121k. Engine rebuilt @ 120666 Miles

Hi, its a bit if a hotch potch tbh, palladio reducer, king ecu, magic jet injectors with no nozzles, pressure set to 1.3barg, works fine, doesn't get thrashed very often but performance is there when required...

Oh forgot to say, no emulators to mask fuel trims or cel coming up, and return fuel line with an appropriate sized orifice installed 👍

Interesting….

I have run lpg for 65k and this far had no problems.

When I posted last year asking about it I thought I had the dreaded vsr but it turned out a few of the injectors were partially blocked. Cleaned and in one case replaced and I’ve not had a problem since.

I have pretty much the same setup as dingg except I have the biggest valtek injectors you can get.

Done 60000 on lpg so far.

Last year I though the issue was the fuel return so I took it all out stupidly and I can’t be bothered to put it back in so I now have one injector on petrol all the time that regulates the pressure and causes no lights. I may put the return back if I can be bothered but this seems to be working fine Current stable:
