This black one is the longest I have owned a car ever!

The red one came close but that was a Jun 2015-Feb 2020 car, this is a Feb 2020 - March 2025!

Can’t believe it’s been 5 years already. Will I be able to resist mental pressure to change. For the time being yes. Especially now it has had some of the gremlins banished. There is obviously a few things which could poke up going forwards. ACE pipes, brake lines, bushes etc. but for now it’s all good. 👍🏻 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Checked the coolant
Checked the range on the Adblue
Checked the tyre pressures
Chucked in the snow chains
Sorted out my driving paperwork V5, MOT, insurance
Charged my diagnostics
Charged the NOCO
Checked the toll tag battery is ok
Made sure I’ve got a UK sticker for the back.
Filled up at Costco

Just need to do the screen wash and give it an hoover and I think it’s all good to go!!

Fingers crossed it won’t throw a wobbler!! I’ve been trying to get Adrian Flux to add fully comp euro cover to the D5 but I’m still waiting…. So I’m just going to g to take the old girl. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Adrian Flux finally called me up with a figure. £59……

Now I have a dilemma.

£59, swap the Chunnel and parking details and go in D5 - which has LR approved used warranty with recovery.

Or the RR which has LR warranty but no recovery, but I do have RAC European through the bank, not sure how extensive that is though, oh and the tiny tiny risk of it going bang… There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Decision made.

Fattie all the way! Screen wash topped up. Packing the old girl up in the morning. Downloaded a couple of audio books.

I’ve found and packed a spare litre of oil and litre of coolant concentrate, just in case.

Good to go!

One for the brain bank if you’ve put the sleeping batteries in your fob….

When sitting in the cup holder the key turns itself off…..

We were parked up in the Chunnel loading and switched off. Went to start it ans it said key not recognised. Slight panic mode but did the fob by the column and all ok. It then occurred that what had happened was that in the 10 mins from parking up to switching back on the key had gone to sleep. So when I hadn’t moved it around and came to turn the car back on, even though it was in the car the car couldn’t see it! A quick pick up of the key would have sorted it. But one to remember so that little bit of 💩 doesn’t come out.

All tucked up nice and cosy in the resort garage, next to 2 uk deafeners and a UK D5. Keeping good company.

No dramas on the way down, cruise all the way at 130 “ish” off the Chunnel at 8.25, in resort by 5.00. 💥 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I've got the PowerfulUK sleeping battery and had similar, dropped the wife off for 10 mins, obviously sat still for longer than 3 minutes and the key switched itself off in my pocket...

Gets you the first time but still seems a good idea...
