Hood replacement won't open

Hey folks!

Replaced the hood on my RHD 07 L322 with a hood from a LHD 08 L322.

Installation was no problem, eveything looked good and lined up.

I've now closed it and it won't open. I've pyulled the lever and the cable broke out of the end of the lever, when I pull on the cable with some pliers it still doensn't open and also doesn't have any give.

Any thoughts?

It'll be slightly offset, you will need an assistant to pull the release cable, if you push the bonnet near the pegs which secure into the front panel you should be able to get them to release, try from the side of the bonnet also, hopefully you can get it sorted

Next time slacken the screws that hold the securing mechanism in the top of the front panel until its perfectly lined up and operating freely

Ah, I had a bit of a play but I will go back with some more effort. There is some downwards movement when I push down around the pegs so I assume it just working that area?

You need to try side to side I recon. Not had to do it but I don’t think up and down will help you… happy to be corrected though

Yes they are very sensitive to alignment.
Once you get it open if you put some grease on both sides of the fittings and then partly close it with some cardboard in between you can see where it makes contact.
It will just need adjusting so that the top pin sits in the centre of bottom catch.
Mine was badly adjusted when I got it and used to stick. 2012 TDV8 4.4 Westminster Santorini black
