Hi,

I'm thinking we could have some form of a 3 dimentional metallic device uniquely coded to that vehicle that does not require any form of elecromagnetic radiation or be subject to over the air interference and potential electronic replication, it could be inserted into a recepticle and assuming the 3 dimentional mechanical coding matched the vehicle it could be turned to initiate the engine.

It could be small enough to carry in your pocket and possibly combined via a connecting ring with other similar devices for other secure devices, perhaps decorated by some form of aesthetic accoutrement, pehaps a combination of metal and leather that has a sentimantal connection with the owner.

Surely in this day and age our top engineers could come up with something along those lines.

Another thing about the Ghost if in service mode. Should it be stolen once you go over 32mph, a 15 minute timer starts & when the car is switched off it will not start again without the code.
However, if during the fifteen minute countdown, the perpetrator stops at a junction or traffic lights and the speed is zero, the 15 minute timer is reset & they get another 15 minutes. So if its stolen in a city there is a very good chance that it will not need the code input. Should it be on a Motorway for example & the 15 mins is exceeded, then when switched off, it needs the code inputted to restart.
As I said previously, I have driven my car for day's in the city without needing to input the code, but I realised that it defeats the reason for having a ghost, so input it every time now

That and that it only needs to get it as far as a recovery wagon or furniture truck or container even (then HIAB onto the back of a flatbed in the container), from there its away to the docks, it doesn't need to move under it's own power for long.

A VHF tracker works in a container its the one to get if you think its going to be dragged into a container etc

Does anyone know if the gearbox disable is any less safe than the engine disable? I'd like the remote heating option if I can but not at the expense of security

I pondered on this and eventually thought rightly or wrongly that dont let a tea leaf start the engine, why would you want to do half the job for him? Plus with engine running powered steering etc etc is available. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

I might see if the timed climate option is available once I get the car, that might help make the decision a no brainer
