It's not as if Surrey to Park Royal is a long way either. Take it back, let the dealer sort it and chill out. The way you're carrying on you'll get an ulcer.

This is great for you, but that just doesn't make sense...........unless the dealer will just send it out to auction ? Presumably if your car had a warranty it must have either been new or an approved used, then you would think the dealer would sell on again as an approved used and the next customer will surely still get all the same "warranty" problems you had and want them fixed. At some point LR would have to fix it ? But then I suppose not if over 3 years and they do sell on out of the dealership.............hmm time to avoid FFRR's sold out of the LR franchises ? So, Andy D, did you get the problem solved ? Can you or James at Lookers give an update - it's always interesting to know what happened - it helps to know what dealers to use for next purchases |

I have to be a bit careful regarding customer confidentiality, therefore AndyD may wish to expand on which items caused it to not pass the MOT which may add some clarity. I'm pretty sure that AndyD is happy with Lookers, and he knows that we would always assist if assistance is needed.
You need to ask? Not many dealers would respond before 5am! James |

The latest we've heard is that at some point the car had some work done to it and part of the wiring loom want replaced properly. It's been rubbing against the wheel arch, has worn through the insulation and it shorts against the bodywork making various modules explode (including the handbrake which is the main reason for it failing the MOT).

I would take James up on his offer to give it an autopsy but it's currently in pieces on the floor of the local dealers having a new wing loom fitted and as it's failed the MOT so I couldn't drive it to Park Royal anyway. '07 Supercharged in black with drug dealer tinted windows |

I'd have taken it back to the supplying dealer in the first instance, especially in view of James's offer. In my experience, things can get a bit 'messy' when a second dealer becomes involved. I know that distance/time can be an issue, but if bleeps and flashes are going off like an Ibiza nightclub then I reckon a call to LRA for recovery to the supplying dealer would've represented a reasonable request. I don't blame your wife for not wanting to drive it on the motorway - it should have gone straight back to the supplying dealer, I think.

You're right, with hindsight I should have taken it straight back to LPR, I'm sure everything would be different now if I had.

Thanks James, as soon as it's back in one piece we'll give you a shout and arrange for it to be picked up. As for the brakes, it was the big orange light on the dashboard saying "replace brake pads" not a technician. '07 Supercharged in black with drug dealer tinted windows |

Well done, you can't ask better than that. Wish you were my local dealer I would have been fuming if I had to pay for a service that soon into ownership ! You should have gone straight back to them Andy D. In fact that did actually happen to me with another marque. 1 month after owning I had a call to politely ask me to book the car in for a full service..............."what you are kidding" I said - maybe a few loud grunts too They did do it for free in the end, but had to argue. I couldn't beleive any main dealer would sell a car without it being fully serviced / mot'd for the year. I'd be shocked if the discs weren't under warranty ? Pads No, but discs - at least a skim to make new if they can be done ? Anyway, good luck hope you get all the problems fixed. I've never dealt with James, but from the sound of it they are No.1 |
