The only other option of getting one is off a member who has changed their oil cooler.
Worth putting an ad in the wanted section.
Someone might oblige.

I've recently changed mine and you are welcome to it from the old cooler. I assume it is the same part on both 405 and 322. 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green over sand

Thank you Toby.

I’ll PM you.

Inside also asked Butcher for some pricing - I’ll happily buy a bag of them and donate them to the forum shop if I can - the advice I’ve had from the forum members has been amazing and invaluable, not to mention saving me a potential fortune …! Ash

Sorry if this has been covered but have you checked whether you have had the oil sensor loom recall done? I had restricted performance when the 2nd turbo kicked in until I had the mod done at an independent (despite LR saying it had been done, when it hadn't). By the time I fixed it, I needed a new turbo actuator module which had been damaged by the oil. Fixed the problem completely.

Don't know whether you saw my other message to make sure the plastic basket is in place that goes inside the filter.
Thumbs Up

I have the cooler and the part required but it is not apparent how I remove it from the cooler. I don't want to break it. There appears to be a push clip at 4 o'clock for want of a better word. Does it just pull up? 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green over sand

You need to gently bend the four tangs up a little with a sharp pick just enough for it to release.
Then when it is refitted they need to be gently hammered almost flat before fitting so they will grip the mounting post.
I used a very small socket to tap it over the post.

OK, thanks. I have a small-ish pick so will attempt tomorrow. I've had a bit too much red wine to try tonight Smile 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green over sand

It's trickier than I expected. I have not removed it yet. Should it have a black bung in the middle as it is hollow?

This is a picture of mine.
The left hand side of this picture is the part with the four tangs that needs prying off the post. It's quite robust so just pry it loose.
The right hand side of the picture shows the bung that blocks a passage way when the filter screws down.

Hi Toby

I can see the rubber bung in your picture - at the 10 o’clock position sitting under the metal ‘clip’ Ash

Hi Kevin,

Re Reading your post, and looking at your second image on the previous page, you seem to have something inside the central 'pipe' of thr housing. I;ve checked today and don't have anything inside the 'pipe' - I can put my little finger in there and cannot feel anything.

Not sure what you are referring to when you say plastic basket is in its place... Do you mean the large 'tube style filter' ?

Thanks (and sorry for all the questions) Ash

Don't worry about the questions Ash.
I don't know what that is in the center tube.
If you pull the actual filter itself out of it's housing you should find a plastic blasket that runs the length of the filter.
Mine has always stayed in the filter itself and I have to pry it out and click it inside the new filter.
I can only presume it stops the center of the filter from collapsing, unless someone else knows better.
Someone may have left yours out and could be part of the problem?
If yours is missing the 'bung' then I would confidently say that is where your oil is going.
Have you had a look at the MAP sensor on the top of the doughnut?
It usually gets caked in soot. Yours will probably be soaked in oil, as mine was, but if it is all caked up use some carburettor cleaner but don't be tempted to poke anything inside or you'll puncture the membrane.
Thumbs Up

Is the rubber bung only there to allow oil in the filter housing to drain back into the sump when unscrewing the filter so that oil doesn’t spill out everywhere when doing a filter change?

In normal operation and assuming the bung is present, it’s closed, but if the bung is missing, some oil would drain back to the sump but not be lost as such?

Either way, it needs the rubber bung in place to operate correctly.

Kev, if that’s a picture of yours, it may be worth checking what that is in the centre bore of yours, as that doesn’t look right? Jonathan

JCW, I think the main function of the bung is to drain the filter.
However, when mine was loose, so not sealed, it was using loads of oil and all the inlet side was very wet.
Since I've fixed it securly in position it hasn't used a drop. So I don't know how it manages to use oil when it wasn't in place.
Thanks for making me worry that I've got something that should'nt be there. Rolling with laughter
Will have a look on the next oil change.
