Remove the transfer case, remove the gearbox, remove the starter motor, remove the crankshaft position sensor, fit the crankshaft locking tool, loosen flex plate bolts, remove the crankshaft locking tool, remove the flex plate, remove the trigger wheel, remove oil seal housing bolts including the ones up through the sump, hopefully work the seal housing out without damaging the sump gasket, hopework work the new seal housing back in without damaging the sump gasket, fit and tighten the seal housing bolts, fit a new trigger wheel using the alignment tool then reverse all the steps to refit the transfer case.

DeeJay - for what it is worth, have you checked that your leak is not from the oil cooler?.

Checked and confirmed it is not the oil cooler. I that was the problem we would've done that fix last year. 2011 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 |

A revised rear main seal was introduced with VIN BA343771. I have no details of the change and unlikely to be of significance all these years later. |
