M62 Vanos solenoid removal tool

Hiya Peeps!
Can anyone tell me where I can get the 32mm Vanos removal tool in UK. Loads of US sites selling them for £25-35 but then mahoosive postage costs? I have tried using a plumbers box socket cut down but just too tight on the solenoid body! Any help would be appreciated.

You can buy them.off the bay but I had to machine mine a bit for a good fit or simply use a pair of pump pliers .

I have those but don't want to damage the solenoid if possible, cleaning rather than replacing.

Honestly give them a try their not that tight. I had the full timing kit when we did the chains and guides off the bay it did the job and I let my mate who did my engine rebuild keep it.

As you say "not that tight" started to remove the solenoid.... slowly turning with the pliers.... started coming out..... 20 minutes later, still coming out..... another 20 minutes later, still coming out???? There isn't enough thread on the solenoid for it to take this long, could it be hung up on an O ring? On the BMW M62 there seems to be a secondary piece which needs to be fished out with a threaded bolt? Any ideas?

Your write up left the solenoids untouched? There is a US Youtube with the bolt size. My issue is that the bloody solenoid body is turning but not coming out?

Oh right wasn't sure. Yeah looks like the casing is just moving then if you have a go with yhe search function lots on here about removal and cleaning. Don't wast money on Ebay replacments they don't fit are complete crap .

I cleaned mine with brake cleaner and refitted them. There is an oil check valve and seal in there if you wanted to remove it for cleaning that's when you use the bolt.

A Google search will tell you what size deep socket you need to remove it. Look at the bmw forums.
