Body Control Module YWC000923?

So I tried to get my keys programmed at the dealer for my 2004 L322. They said that they weren't able to do any programming because the BCM (part YWC0000923) is faulty. And of course RR has discontinued it.

What are my options? of I buy a used BCM, it’ll be programmed with the old VIN on it, so won’t work with the existing key, right? Is there any issue if I get a used BCM? Yes, I’ll need all new keys programmed, but is there any other electronics that won’t work with the incorrect VIN-ed BCM?

I only have one key, and am very worried about losing it. 2004 RR HSE 22k miles

It might not be the BCM at fault, if I were you I would find a local BMW independant garage in your area, and ask them if they have anyone in the shop who knows about BMW's from 2000 to 2005, specifically the X5 (which a lot of electronics were also in your Range Rover L322 of the time )

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M62 - specifically M62TUB44 engines in the E38, E39 and E53 BMW cars/models that all had the same key programming and electronics !

If they do have someone, ask them if they can access your EWS ( this is under the gear lever console in the middle of the car) , see 14 seconds into this youtube video

some shops use a AK90

Your local shop will trust something that they are used to for the BMW's they service, they will be able to program a second key for you, I just got a new one for my 2004 car, a flip style one, and I watched them do it, took 40 minutes from start to finish Smile

At the same time they may be able to scan your car, and look into what maybe at fault with your BCM, did the dealer tell you the error codes or the ODBII codes that came up when they scanned your car ?

I’ll check on a BMW specialist.

I tried to program the keys using an AK90 but didn’t succeed. 2004 RR HSE 22k miles

Australia 2005 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver

so, what was the result ???
you say its a 2004
2004 has YWC000921
2005 has YWC000922

yours has a YWC000023 ???
i can only assume that it has been replaced with the latest upgraded model, seems strange it would fail again RR 2005 4.4 petrol

It’s been a while; I can’t quite recall everything now. I did try all kinds of ways to program the key, etc., nothing worked. So I had to cough up the 800 bucks to get a new key from the dealer.

Regarding the BCM: The first dealer (by this time I had lost confidence in them and went to a second dealer for everything). They were totally wrong. Had nothing to do with the BCM. In any case they had given me the 923 part number for the BCM; that’s the best I can tell you. I do know it’s a 2004 RR 2004 RR HSE 22k miles
