Distance warning?

Does the L405 have any tech which checks the distance to the car in front and displays a warning on the dash or elsewhere if you’re deemed to be too close?

I can set a warning distance on my L405 should throw a green triangle on the dash showing active and you set warning by adaptive controls, as long as you have adaptive cruise then you definitely have it.

The Adaptive Cruise is great as it will also keep you the same distance from the car in front if active. I believe there are 3 levels.

If you have that, you will also have front rader which, when endaled, will give you an alert if you are getting too close under normal driving (not just under cruise control) Ash

at slow speed you have the parking sensors....at normal road speed i would just be alert a little more to avoid problems.. ... - .- -.

Agree Stan, but the front radar provides a warning for those moments you don’t realise… perhaps a momentary glance to change a radio station…

I believe the radar is also connected to the Intelligent Emergency Braking system - something I really want to test…… but am not brave enough. Ash

Ash try it,

enable it in the menu, and just carefully drive up to a vehicle at a round about, slow speed, no cruise active, no tailgater Whistle just be ready to brake yourself. It's actually very good, in fact it operates sooner than you might expect. I actually have disabled it around town as it is too sensitive for my driving style Cool
But I have used it on motorways, its excellent, but like anything else dont rely 100% on it, its there for Emergencies after all. And adaptive cruise, I guess, really removes the need for it. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

The front collision warning thing doesn’t really sense distance, just warns you if the car in front is suddenly slowing and you haven’t got your foot on the brake already.

You can still tailgate people without it going off so don’t worry about that Laughing

I have activated this on my 'new to me' L405 and find it really useful. It even picked up a cyclist in poor light conditions before I saw him!

E500, The collision 'warning' I get - and it has been very useful a couple of times for me but its just a red triange and noise to 'let you know' It doesn't perform any braking action at that point.

The part I'm s care to try is the Intelligent Emergency Braking where the car just takes over and brakes for you to avoid a collision. Kinda similar to the adaptive cruise but most likley more severe braking. Ash

Yeah exactly. I’ve never let it brake for me either!

How did you configure this? Is it on all the time or only when you’ve got ACC on?

I’m not in the car right now but you enable front radar via the dash/steering wheel. Go into the menu and it under car setup I think.

Once it’s on it should always be active. Ash
