Not sure if you have the offroad info screen on your infotainment unit, but the ride height indicators on there should move if it drops to m'way height??

Also, is it not possible to lock in "motorway" height similar to locking in "access" height? If so, try locking lowered height when at M'way speed and see if it does anything?

Have an MY07 myself and haven't been able to try it out as its set higher at ~100mph and would like to keep my license to enjoy the car... although it is definitely mentioned in the '07 manual - will have a hunt tonight (if I recall correct its in the Tech Spec bit)

Gentlemen, thank you for all your inputs. The vehicle is a facelift TD6, according to microcat build date 29/09/2005.
Yes indeed the downloaded manual does make reference to 'high speed suspension height' and states;
[color=red]This vehicle has a feature that lowers the
suspension ride height by 20 mm if the vehicle
exceeds 160 km/h (100 mph), this happens
automatically. The driver has no control over
this feature, which is designed to improve high
speed stability.
Note: NEVER exceed the speed limits.[/color]

I have clarified the sppeds with land rover, apparently thwe 160km/h is a printing error!.

The infotainment does not detail anything about motorway mode whilst moving (or at any other time) and pressing the 'lock button' again gives no indications anywhere.
A good idea is that i will press the lock and try the measurements then.
The only reason i ask this is that occasionaly i have noticed relevelling but it has appeared to be leveling downwards and not as i would have suspected upwards.
My former classic had the motorway indicator on the centre console - for some funny reason it was sort of reassuring!.

The MY07 Manual states the following:

Sounds like whoever you talked to at RR doesn't know what they're talking about as i can't see them making the same printing error in a later manual as well, especially with both 160km/h and 130km/h values!

You can see a display of your relative chassis vs wheel centre heights under the 4x4 info screen, but the 20mm change at motorway height might be too small to register?

May have to try a blast on a "private" Whistle road to check it out

Also notices that the Technical Data section states 25mm difference between standard and motorway heights, but the Driving and Operating text states 20mm... Wonder which is right?

As the post above states regarding High Speed mode it is activated at 100 mph on 06 MY onwards vehicles. The indications you get are lamps 2 and 4 from the picture on the previous page of this thread and also the motorway mode setting on the 4 x 4 info screen on the TSD.

From the 06 WSM:

High Speed Mode

High speed mode is a non-selectable, automatic mode which lowers the vehicle height by 20mm to improve vehicle
handling. This feature is fully automated and is 'invisible' to the driver.

If the vehicle speed exceeds 100 mph (160 km/h) for more than five seconds, the air suspension control module
initiates the high speed mode. When the vehicle speed reduces to less than 80 mph (130 km/h) for more than 30
seconds, the vehicle returns to the On-Road height. This function is cancelled if a trailer is connected to the trailer
socket.

The lock option is only for access height and is referred to as crawl mode. It is intended for use in garages and car parks. From the WSM:

Crawl (Locked at Access) Mode

Crawl mode allows the vehicle to be driven at access height. The vehicle is locked in access height and can be selected
at a speed of less than 21.7 mph (35 km/h) and can be driven at low speeds to improve clearance in areas with
restricted headroom, i.e. car parks. If the vehicle exceeds 25 mph (40 km/h), crawl mode will be cancelled and the
vehicle will return to on-road height.

To select crawl mode the vehicle must first be in access mode. Crawl mode is selected by pressing the 'hold' button
once. When selected, the hold button LED will be illuminated. When the control module is in crawl mode, on-road mode
height will be selected automatically if the vehicle speed exceeds 25 mph (40 km/h). At 18.6 to 21.7 mph (30 to 35
km/h) a message is displayed in the message center to warn the driver to slow down or the vehicle will raise. Crawl
mode can also be manually cancelled by pressing the hold button once. The access mode LED and the hold LED will be

arh, even more confused now. So it looks like i don't have 'motorway mode' [drop of 20mm after 60mph] - but i do have highspeed mode [drop of 20mm after 100mph].

So if the car has dropped 20mm in motorway mode and you then take it above 100mph does it drop a further 20mm for highspeed mode?. That would be a drop of 40mm in total and that, i think, equals Access mode?.
Back on to land rover today i think.....

MY2007+ do not have the plus 60mph Motorway mode just the 100 MPH+ drop.

This is due to the introduction of the Terrain response system which changed all the drive & suspension management systems on these newer cars.

That's my understanding anyway Thumbs Up

Enlightenment. I have just had a fantastic chat LR Belgium FFRR technical specialist. He has confirmed that from MY2006 LR stopped the motorway mode, due to increasing the specification/performance of something else [words such as dynamic, response etc etc were said!]. The high speed mode is still active at 160kph - he did advise me not to drive this fast as i may get a ticket.
It makes me wonder how/why LR UK could tell me that it was a printing error and like a wally i've been measuring it! - not too sure it was a technical reply.
I did feel a little knocked over by a feather!.
Strangely - LR Belgium do not have an email address fro LRUK

Anyway, again, a big thank you again for all of your replies.

Sustained driving at 140MPH did not lower my FFRR in Germany. The 4x4 screen did not show what the handbook claims. However - the 2006 SC did have different suspension to the TD6 - so it is possible the manual covered both, with the petrol not requiring the drop due to the stiffened sports suspension fitted. Land Rover Addict

I tried 160kph on german autobahn.. and i couldnt feel a change..

well I would like to drop the car a bit after 100kph. (speed limit over here is 120kph)


that would save some fuel which I could waste for some fun Very Happy
