3G to 4G Telematics unit update options?

Hi All, I moved my 2017 Rangey back home to Oz this year and while initially working about a month ago, my remote app is saying the car is stuck in sleep mode. I am wondering if this is due to the car only having 3G capability and the recent shutdown of the network has meant the car is no longer connected? Has anyone else got the same issue? I can tether my phone to the car for all other Nav functions etc but I understand the internal SIM card buried in the TMU controls the connectivity for remote, protect, secure etc.

Has anyone else suffered the same issue? Is there a SOTA or hardware update available?

Thanks in advance

Jase

I had my 2016/7 flashed with a more uptodate programme cost me £350 and took a couple of hours to download from JLR, still have to plug in the phone for the APPs.
I have got a better map and the screen updated without changing the size of the screen.

I will be sending mine over to Oz later this year. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

That's interesting. Did it include and update from 3G to 4G on the telematics? Oz have shut down all 3G and below networks so you'll need it when you come out if you want incontrol remote services... 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

I believe that it took the system to a 2020 car. if I want to use Waze then I plug the phone in, that gives me Apple car play. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

As i understand it, the module on the MY17 is 3G only and no amount of software updates will convert it to 4G.
I also believe that the telematics unit uses 2G, and not the SIM card you install under the front arm rest.

Of course this is in the UK, other countries may have different infrastructures. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

That's my understanding too. So can the Telematics Control Unit be updated with a later 4G unit?

Australia has dropped all network infrastructure below 4G. 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel
