I had to change the motor on my 07 SC last year,it is possible to do it without dropping the diff, the motor is held on by 4 hex bolts, you do have to work blind though as it sits on top of the diff and you have to feel for the bolt position.

I have an IID and have toyed with the idea of just going into the CCF and changing the setting for rear diff locking to "NOT FITTED". Any thoughts on that as an option?

Thanks all! And especially thanks for the info on the fact the motor replacement can be done without dropping the diff despite it being a "pig" of a job.
