Poland 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue
2012 L322 With Very Rusty Underside? Too much?

Guys, I need your opinion.

I am looking at a 2012 Vogue that would replace my 2007 Vogue.

The thing is, while everything else is OK, no resprays, no accident history, nice colorway (Nara+Arabica), pretty much fully loaded (Active Cruise, 360 cameras, dual view, 1200W HD audio, rear locking diff and more) what worries me is what was found underneath.

Car has only like 176 k kms (109k miles) and this is what it looks like down below:

Is this too much? Should I worry? Should I pass on this car you guys reckon? 07 3.6 TDV8 Vogue

One thing to add is that today I looked at my own 2007 TDV8 with 100k kms more on the clock, driven in all winters and this is how an OLDER car looks like:

The 2012 car looks to be superficial surface rust from the photos but I could be wrong.

Check it carefully and factor in some rust treatment and prevention into the price when making an offer.

Just check the rear wheel arches and door shuts properly too. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Yup, I too hope this is just surface rust but I am quite surprised to see everything underneath a 5 year younger car in this state. 07 3.6 TDV8 Vogue

My 2012 car was much worse for rust than my 2004, which after 9 yrs was more like your 2007 one, though I had it waxoyled from new, the 2012 was an ex-demo so not done. I'm not sure exactly what happened for the newer 322s to be so bad, higher scrap content in the steel, poorer paint/preparation, cost cutting by Tata, but on my experience definitely expect a later car to have more corrosion problems, and be much harder to keep resistant to it than an earlier one, even for a diligent owner. Only Range Rovers since 1988

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

A coastal car maybe or used to revers a boat or jet ski trailer into the sea?

The good news is it looks superficial and providing some time is spent treating it shouldn’t cause any serious issues. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Santorini black ivory leather

I'd look at a couple more if you can, for comparison. That looks pretty bad to me for a 2012 vehicle!

It looks like surface corrosion from driving on salted roads, although it could have been used to launch a boat into salt water!

It's surprising how quickly this can happen to vehicles if they're driven on a wet & salted road and then parked up for any length of time, i.e. without it being washed off by non-salted road water spray first.

It’s not pretty, but I doubt it’s particularly unusual for anything that’s lived out of town for over a decade anywhere a bit damp. The paint/protection on everything underneath isn’t great.
