The Exides are physically an exact match for the OE batteries for my MY and a very straight swap.

Both 10+ year old original batteries reading 12.7v - but I know I've been on borrowed time.

You don't "have to" inform the car it has a new battery... it will work fine without... Just takes a little longer to sort itself out but rest assured it will, certainly don't waste money getting an indie to do it... General question on charging - I have charged cars for years but knowing how sensitive the RR can be and hearing about a second battery (or not) is it Ok to charge on the under bonnet posts or is it best practice to fit directly to the boot battery ? I have stopped doing short journeys as 'low battery' warning came on and also remembering to lock the car also helps prevent battery drain. I use the car every other week so I have a NOCO genius charger for when it is standing.

I have charged from under the bonnet and direct to the main battery. I think it is the same.

Mine was charged through the towing electrics socket using an adaptor bought from the forum shop (maybe no longer available, but can be got elsewhere) during the Covid lockdown and that worked fine and was convenient with no need to open bonnet etc. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |

Thanks for posting pictures of the replacement batteries Alistair which really helped me out. I bought the same ones and replaced them this morning. Very easy job to do and there was no need to reset the BMS. Only thing that needed doing was a reset of the clock and date.

Most likely need to change my auxiliary. Does anyone have any experience as to whether the following is really necessary?

Pull from the top only. The bottom is in a kind of rail.
