I have the scorpion Zero all season in 255/55/19 on my D4. Can’t remember if they have the pncs foam tho. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Pirelli now have the Scorpion MS, which claims to be an upgrade to both the Scorpion Verde All Season and the Scorpion Zero All Season.

The bad news? You can't get it in the right sizes for the L405 20", 21" or 22" wheels.

The other Pirelli to look at is the Scorpion SF2.

these are a 3 peak snowflake tyre so can in theory be used where winters are required on the continent, however they are an all season tyre rather than a full winter. Ive not seen any reviews for them as yet but they have good specs in terms of noise, fuel and wet performance.

Only problem is that Pirelli don't have any until Jan apparently. I was wanting them for the FF but in the end went with the zero AS last week as even the Pirelli performance centre in Burton on trent couldn't get any.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I’ve just fitted the SF2 on my 4.4 TDV8 Westminster and the wet performance is as a tyre should be. Unlike the All Season PNCS (AS-PNCS) which I found comically dangerous in the wet and would lift off the road at the slightest whiff of standing water.

The new MS referenced above looks to improve on the wet performance of the previous AS-PNCS. It is still a PNCS tyre, but not 3 peaks rated.
I got my SF2s via Asda Tyres. Fitted last week.
The rubber feels much softer than the AS-PNCS and there
is much less of it so I’ll be interested to see how they wear.

I have 255 50 R20 Scorpion Zero AS ( All Season ) PCNS tyres on the front, and after 5000 miles they are absolutely fine in heavy rain bombing down motorways, no hint of aquaplaning or lift, can't imagine Pirelli would manufacture an AS tyre that also qualifies for B marking and not meet those specs !

and same tech as all the other Scorpion tyres

There's a difference between wet braking performance and aquaplane resistance. Generaly you can avoid aquaplaning by driving according to the conditions of the road. I've driven in all sorts of conditions and roads in the last 3 years / 45k miles on Verde's and never had an aquaplaning incident but then maybe that's reflected in the way I drive and why I easily got 30k miles out of a set of tyres and not 9k miles...... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Just a thought re aquaplaning and tyre pressure

I think the formula is 9* square root tyre pressure (PSI) = aqua planing speed

Low tyre pressures will result in low aquaplaning speeds…

Check those pressures regularly to help

Yes, I see my Scorpion Verde PNCS have the same 4 grooves also.

I can’t believe people have “handling problems” with the fullfat on any premium OEM recommended tyres in any conditions, unless they are driving without due care and attention for the road conditions or at an inappropriate speed, it is not a sports car by any means, and needs to be driven with consideration for its mass and high COG, considering the safety of those on board and other road users. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

maybe woody's trye pressures were a little low, most of the time mine are Front 2.3 Rear 2.5 bar, I check them every week, only because I have a DeWalt tyre inflator, and it only takes a few minutes to top them up Smile

I'm not joining the tyre debate, but I do agree with Gremlin if you are really worried about the absolute performance of a tyre then and you have a RR then you have the wrong car.

I just have had fitted appropriate (manufacturers size and speed rating) premium tyres all round, all I know is that they are Pirellis and cost a few quid, I might be a bit more bothered if I had a Ferrari or drove the RR like a lunatic.

Yep, leave a safe distance and slow down if it's pi&&ing down. Geoff
