Ctek charger in P400e

I have a 2021 Range Rover Fifty P400e. On my previous Range Rovers, I fitted a Ctek comfort connector to the under bonnet battery connection & had the plug in terminal hidden down by the lower grill enabling a ten second connection to the Ctek
I assume there is an ordinary battery fitted to the P400e (or not ??) The under bonnet connection is there, so the question is, does the ordinary battery get charged when using the granny charger or is it worth connecting up a Ctek. Car is not used that much, but found on the previous Range Rovers I was getting the low battery, start engine message until Ctek was fitted.

Yes, there is a regular battery under the foam insert beneath the boot floor.

There is another smaller ordinary battery under the right side panel.

Both are supposed to be charged by the alternator & by the plug-in charger, but they both fail sometimes, without warning and with catastrophic consequences (no servo brake, no ESP/ABS, plethora of error messages, etc.). I'm charging both every now and then, I even installed a connector for the auxiliary one, to be able to charge it without removing the panel. I use the under bonnet connectors for the other battery.

Thanks for that. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Ctek comfort connector now going to be installed to under bonnet posts. Just have to figure out the best place for it to exit out the front, while being hidden from sight

Which comfort connecter will you fit?

The one that came in the bag with mine does not fit over the posts under the bonnet (SDV8). So end up using the croc clamps which is a bit of a bodge with the positive post cap, as it doesn't bend flat when bonnet is closed

The posts under the bonnet are not proper threads, so getting a good connection is quite hard. What I did is get 2 off 7-9mm jubilee clips, (link below), then strip back the cable, wind the cable a couple of times through the clips, fit to posts then clamp up.
I fed the comfort connector through to the bottom grille & hid it in there. Takes 2 seconds to get it hanging out, then connect to Ctek.
I will post a couple of pics later today, lot easier than explaining. Used this method on my previous Sport worked fine for the years I had it.

Pics of front of car, connector hidden, connector ready to be connected to Ctek, jubilee clip attached to neg post. (waiting on delivery of clip to attach to positive post) Pics in my gallery
If your comfort connector wire is long enough, the easiest way is to chop off the ring terminals & also the cteck connector. Make sure there is about 6 inches if wire still connected to the connector as you will have to solder or crimp to the cable. I soldered & added heat shrink, but crimp is ok
Remove the left hand panel above the radiator, three plastic screws unscrew & they pull out. If you look through your grille from the front you will see a hole in the plastic shroud. Poke your wire through the grill & into that hole, you can then pull it through into engine compartment &tie wrap along existing cable to the battery post area. Ensure you have plenty cable spare. Allow the other end of the cable to drop behind the grille, then fish it out of the bottom with a bit of bent wire or wire coat hanger where you see the pic of my connector hanging free. if you look in this area there is a small support. Feed the wire out to the right of this support. Tie wrap the cable to this support as you want it to be the anchor so the
connector cannot just fall into the void. Solder/crimp the connector to the wire. Use insulating tape or heat shrink to protect from the elements. The connector can now be tucked away to the left of the support & just pulled out when required. The tie wrap stops it being lost.
Go back to charging posts, strip about 4 inches of cable the feed it through the jublee clip then fit to post & tighten up. Can solder if you wish. I didnt. Do positive one then good to go.
Any question, just ask

That's awesome thank you. I was tempted to try the 12v outlet one, but unsure how I feel about leaving a small gap on the door seal in winter.

I will take a look into it - also I see that's an Aruba P400e? If you got that one from JCt600 in May/June time I am v jealous as I was after it
