Cost to get a new key ?

Hi,

Has anyone recently bought a new key from a dealer and if so, how much did they charge ?

it is for a 2021 car.

The dealer I spoke to was saying that with the revised security you can't simply get a key and program it, the whole system needs recoding.

Cheers

A good locksmith will take the module out, read it with their programmer and can create you another key. It'll be £200-250 for that kind of job.

Contact Hertfordshire Car Keys. They'll be able to sort you out. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I believe you can programme a key yourself with an IID tool.

The keys themselves can be found on Amazon for about £20, which include the case, the electronics and a blank key. Current:

yes i can confirm that the gap tool will program a key even when from a different range rover (done two) takes about 2-3 min

Germany 2017 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Carpathian Grey

I can only report from the German area: If you want a new key for the Range Rover from 2015 onwards, the control unit has to be reprogrammed and not even the clever car thieves from Lithuania can do that so easily, even my long-time key supplier couldn't do it. The key itself may only cost 50 euros with a transponder, but it's of no use. L405 SDV8 2017 + Lancia Flavia Coupe 1964 + RRS L494 3.0 SDV6 + C220CDI Convertible 2021

I got an unprogrammed Key from Dan at Duckworhs (he's no longer there) for £70 and programmed it with an idtool. Geoff
