Dynamic Responce Fluid

Well I looked at the reservoir when I was changing the headlight and as far as I could tell there was none in so I bought some and topped it up (book says risk of damage if you drive it below min). However I suspect it is now overfilled but as the fluid is pretty light I can’t tell, it still doesn’t show up against the min and max marks on the reservoir. What damage (if any) will overfilling do. Even using a torch to backlight I still couldn’t see the level of fluid in the reservoir. So any ideas how I might see the fluid level and does it cause a problem if overfilled. Geoff

Open the cap and look in or dip your finger in to check. Level is roughly about 3 to 4cm from the lip of the hole I think. I’d need to check later. V8 or else ...

I don't think a little extra will hurt, I found the best way was to shine the torch directly in the top, you can then see if it is around the min and max mark, if there is loads extra nick the wifes turkey baster and suck some out... Thumbs Up

It shouldn't really need topping up much, if the level has dropped then you may have a leak starting which will drop onto undertrays and be months before it drops on the drive... Exclamation Pete

Brilliant. ^^^

Joking aside, it’s wierd stuff the ace fluid. It seems to fume and vapour off quite a lot compared to engine oil , brake fluid or fuel.

I had rags which soaked up the spilled fluid when doing work recently and I threw them in a bucket. Over the next few days rags became stinking and almost smelling like leaking mains gas, they definitely were releasing something out of them.

I’d buy a new baster. At least that’s your wife’s Christmas present sorted now Laughing V8 or else ...

Dynamic Response Fluid all leaked out.

Hey all my first post on this forum. So having owned my 2013 RRS L405 for a month or two, the first issue I have ran into is as OP mentioned the low ACE fluid.

Turns out I have a leak (the whole thing has leaked out over the space of 2 weeks or so). I took the undertrays off to investigate, as well as the OSF wheel and wheel arch.

Found two pipes held by some kind of rubber/metal clamp, both seem to have been badly rusted, and the leak I'm pretty sure is from there.

Anyone replaced these before? or have the part number for the replacement lines? Trying to get the workshop manual for the 405 so I can work out if I can do this on the drive or not.

Thanks all Thumbs Up

Thanks Stan - yes found it soon after as I was trawling the Wiki.

This ACE pipes leaking seems to be a common fault, was surprised that there wasn't a sticky on this topic or a write up. Although I have seen people use different terminology for it, so I shall keep looking.
