How old is your battery? After sitting for a week it could be a low voltage fault that's triggered it but unlikely after you've done 9 miles going to the shops.

Thought I would update the thread - firstly thansk for those who have made suggestions, unfortunately the car never made it as far as work yesterday, around 1/2 a mile form the house on one of the main routes into town the ABS EBA and DSC lights went out (AFS still on).

Sorry, late to this one. The speedo feeds from the abs sensor on the passenger left rear wheel. Had reluctor ring split due to rust when I had my TD6. Will cause all sorts of errors and you will be lucky to get the car to move at all. As it thinks the car is stationary, due to zero speed input, but still gets movement input from the other 3 wheels it will think those are spinning so applies traction control. Obviously that won’t help, so it winds back engine power until you are flat to the floor at less than walking pace.
