Australia 2005 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
adjusting the track

having trouble adjusting the track, cant unscrew the arm
i have undone the locking nut and knocked the tapered collar back, but it wont undo, its not rusted
am i missing something RR 2005 4.4 petrol
Any spelling mistakes are the fault of spellchecker

You have a few options :
Try applying heat to the area and see if that might loosen the hold
Try repeating application of wd40 or similar - over a few days.

Worst case is remove the rod end at the hub and then the rack 'drum stick (as its often known) at the rack and then try again on the bench before giving up and replacing with new parts that have been greased to reduce the likelihood of it siezing again.

I recently had to adjust mine. Took a fair amount of heat. Once hot apply candle wax to the thread and it seeps down the thread. Came loose eventually.

Got it a bit wrong first time I adjusted and the steering wheel was at an angle - all kinds of errors when tried to drive it - didn't like the steering wheel being at an angle. 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Buckingham Blue

how did you measure the track. ????
i got it to turn, stilsons did the trick, but i think i might have got it wrong, gone to far, will have to measure it again RR 2005 4.4 petrol

You can do it with Strings. See below as an example

There are a couple of web sites that let you enter the numbers and it tells you the settings.

or you can use like a big calliper like the 'Longacre Toe In Gauge' google it to see images.

I have an adjustable rod and 2 blocks to rest the rod ends on, setting the rod to the distance between the front sidewalls then roll the vehicle forwards or backwards until the same measure point is at the back to measure the distance at the back, then adjust the toe each side to gradually make the distances the same, rolling the mark on the tyres back and forth for each measurement. One time it was so close that the wheel aligner didn't need to touch it.
