Totally agree Craig. I know in some parts of Austria that's exactly what they do. A sign flashes up with your reg number and tells everyone how fast you are going.

@ CTC, I agree that is a perfectly acceptable assessment and accords with the Highway Code.

Part of what causes problems is that in the UK motorists are not educated to expect overtaking on the left and react, whereas in the USA, for example, it is an everyday manoeuvre. John

I think they should just simply make it “legal” and it might reduce congestion and who knows prevent certain sections of road from being widened.

The average driver in the UK would I think struggle with the extra spatial awareness complexity of dealing with cars passing on both sides but maybe the anxiety it would cause would make sure most people opted to keep left more to avoid having to deal with it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
