Hi all,

My L322 boot trim piece has lost all its lugs which help hold it place

This is the piece which covers the wiper motor.

Has anyone devised an ingenious way of re attaching it ... Without the clips ?

Yep, I've also had some success with hot glue, don't use too much and you can get it off again with careful use of a hot air gun...  Pete

Cheers chaps. I'll give them a whirl. Heavy duty velcro sounds like a winner as no doubt I'll need to get back under there at some point!

When I used some heavy duty velcro the glue melted in the interior heat build up of a bright summer day...!!! and it fell off....

Maybe get a roll of 3M VHB tape to put on the velcro or use the hot glue which holds to a higher temp and is easy to remove...  Pete

remember a similar issue with the A pillar trim on my Discovery, i ended up making the missing clips from some plastic sheet of the correct thickness then stuck them to the trim piece with pipe solvent (see a plumbers merchant).

As i remember the bits i made were very rough approximation but it worked and they are still attached to the pillars despite being took off numerous times.

Cheers guys. Pipe solvent sounds like something I need to add to the garage.

Depending on how important visual aesthetics are I fitted 2 x M5 screws as shown. The lower part is held in place by a lip and the location of the screws is fairly important so it doesn't crush the panel when tightening. You could use self tappers but being as the steel panel is only 1 mm thick a 4mm hole allowed the screws to bite as they don't need to be that tight. My panel is solid and does not rattle. The advantage over glue is its easily removed I guess
