I haven’t taken the chance of trusting LR security measures. I have used the 3 click method to disable all 3 LRs we have. 7 year old SDV8, new P440e and new Defender. No need to muck about with placing key on dash etc. just opened door and did the keystrokes while standing by the cars. Worked first time.

Now lock and unlock using key only. None of the buttons on door handles etc work.

I have what may be a really dumb question though. When I approach the car I have to press the key’s unlock button. Surely this still transmits the same signal as when touching a door handle or pressing the defender’s door button. Any crook with kit could capture it ???

Am I on the wrong planet?

Nobody can capture or fake or relay a signal from the current UWB keys. No cars with UWB keys are stolen like that, so turning off keyless, Faraday pouches etc are a waste of time.

Just done this on my 2013 model and it worked first time. Thanks for the information, neighbours reported some unsavoury types hanging around the driveway looking at my car last week, sadly out of range of the cameras, so this should help a bit.

Scotland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Fuji White

There's an entire global industry of hackers that prey on people and companies that belive they are invulnerable.

Whenever I hear this, I cringe, I work in telecomms and you wouldn't believe the backdoors we find in so called secure software.

As you probably know we are ripping out Huawei telecomms kit from our networks at billions of pounds in costs and that's not because we don't like the colour.

I'm not sure if these people believe their own hype or they really are that stupid !! Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

Well tried this 20 or so times on my 17plate and no joy. Swapped fobs, worked first time with the 2nd fob.....

Both fobs have new batteries.

So at least it works, just not sure why it only works with one fob. Cheers

James
