Blue screen of death on reverse camera L405

Evening All,

After some advice please, I have today driven my L405 2013 which has surround cameras, drop into reverse, no reverse camera (blue screen), all other cameras ok, am I right to assume i need a new camera?

If so how hard are they to change and roughly what cost please?

I will check wiki to see, any thoughts?

If everything else seems OK - I would think it was the camera.

I hope the fix on an L405 is better than the L322 - that was a terrible mess.

Thanks CHaps,

Yes parking sensors are working fine, just the blue screen of death on the reverse camera only

My camera was full of water/corrosion when this happened. The instructions above doesn't apply for the 360 version BTW. I removed the inner trim and pulled the camera from the inside.

This is how mine was inside.

Before you plug the new camera in, just double check they are identical as there are 4 pin and 6 pin connector types, not sure of the model year when they changed. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Thanks for the advice, I have been told I need part number 52029 which is a 6 pin, I shall find out tomorrow.

Now here the dilemma, I am pretty sure I have whats called the surround camera system, I have rear camera, wing mirror cameras x2 and front bumper cameras x2 so I assume I need to enter via the inside tailgate panel then?

If so how easy is it to get access that way please?

I have the 360 surround system on both my L405 SVA & L494 and have removed both from the outside as per the document. Give it a go, I'm sure you'll be fine. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

6 pin should be correct, just checked and they changed at GA chasis number (2016) to the hi definition camera and before 2013 they were 4 pin with a coax connection, ended up changing those 3 times on the Mrs's Evoque many years ago. Seems they always fail through water ingress. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Sounds right.

It's easier than accessing from the outside imho. The strip outside you need to be careful with as the plastic get old and brittle. Be gentle where it's really thin so you don't Crack it. I have removed it before when I was spraying my rear door and I'd do it from the inside now that I've tried both ways. You just pop the cover off inside and wiggle loose a module that blocks the camera. Use needle nose pliers to unhook it from the plastic and it's out. Doing the outside route risk damaging your paint and cracking the trim. There is a YouTube video explaining it.
