I've got quite a few recordings over the last weeks of aggressive undertaking on motorways inc one by an L405. Not just moving up a left hand lane that is moving faster but comming up behing a car then swerving round on the left.I know people get frustrated by middle and outside lane hoggers but in most cases a bit of patience is all that's needed. These days there is a good chance you will be recorded on someone's dashcam and there is a national dashcam saftey portal where it shows individual constabularies links for sending evidence in. Anybody done this? I'm in 2 minds as I don't feel I should be doing the job of the police but I also think if it has any possibility in preventing a future tragedy I should do it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I feel that submitting evidence of an actual incident (crash etc) or some blatantly dangerous driving/road rage incident is one thing, but if we all start sending in evidence of ‘poor driving’ then it does feel we are heading in to Stasi territory and we will soon be reporting comrades for wrong think.

It depends what you mean by passing on the left.
The density of traffic should get less from lane 1 to lane 4, this is usually the opposite.
If a car can move left, pass and move right without entering your 2 second margin then you could move left and let them pass. If everyone drove on the left except when actually passing there would be a lot less congestion.
As far as dashcam clips are concerned, I regard it as a form of vigilantism like speed watch and a few steps away from redneck Americans in pointy white hats. letters not necessarily in the right order

I'm not talking about 'passing on the left' which is obviously different from approching another car at speed, swerving round them in the left lane before then swerving infront and either carrying on or even worse 'brake checking' them. We all know dangerous and aggressive driving when we see it. How can reporting a crime be vigilantism? Vigilantism is that you bypass the law and carry out your own 'justice' which in this case would be posting video evidence on a public portal with an identifiable number plate and then asking people to trace the driver and carry out their own idea of justice..... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

If you feel that the level of driving witnessed warrants it then submit the video. The Police will make a decision on whether they agree or not and proceed accordingly. John

I think what you are describing would need to firmly fit into the category of “dangerous” as personally I see not much wrong with overtaking on the left when presented with a suborn middle lane car. Arguably it’s safer.

In fact I’ll go one further, I think passing on the left should be encouraged in some cases.

How many times do you drive down a motorway and lane 3 is rammed nose to tail with people up each others arses, whilst lanes 1 and 2 are barely being used but for a couple of selfish / ignorant people.

I think there would be less accidents overall and people would adjust to it. For people who regularly drive on the European mainland it doesn’t take long to switch your brain.
