Note the last point which may assist you:
To synch the keys
1) Get in and close all doors. Turn ignition on and off quickly and remove the key (all within about 5 seconds).

2) Within 30 seconds of turning the ignition off, while holding down the "unlock" button, press the "lock" button three times. Release the "unlock" button. (You may or may not get the confirmation from the door locks.) Holding the key at your head level provides best results as the key sensor is in the side window pillar.

3) Repeat for each key you want to initialize within 30 seconds after the last one you initialized (if you have more).

4) Right after doing the last key, quickly put the key back in the ignition and turn it on/off again to finalize.

Between stages 2 and 3 above DO NOT put the additional key in the ignition (stage 1) as this starts the whole process again. John

When trying to synch another key it may be possible that the address list for the keys is full and requires electronically clearing. There are some threads on this subject if you carry out a search.

Also, it is a cheap easy option to try fitting a new battery into the other key, just in case, Hope this helps Thumbs Up

PS - It will help people to help you if you add your vehicle to your profile so we know which model / year etc you have, L322 / 405 etc

He’s posted in L322 so I took it that is what he has. Could be wrong, of course.🤔 John

Update after trying the above and I still cannot get the second key to marry in with those steps and it has a new battery. Maybe the memory is full like one of the posts suggests, i have an IID Tool so maybe that might help????

I had the same problem

turning the ignition on/off once will clear all keys and allow re-programming of only ONE key

Try this:

Fit the working key in the ignition and turn on and off TWICE
remove key

go through the process for both keys Current: 2003 TD6 HSE. 161,000 miles
