2011 Front parking sensor recessed

Hi all

I recently purchased a 2011 tdv8 and now understand why people love these cars. Coming from a Toyota of a similar year, it’s worlds apart.

My question is, one of the parking sensors “second front the right” is recessed, basically pushed into the bumper. I had a look this past weekend to see if I could somehow make a plan without removing the bumper but to no avail.

The sensor still works but it working on the wrong side of the bumper 😂 is there any advise from anyone on how I can get access to the sensor without removing the bumper or taking the car in.

I tried going through the wheel well, but the sensor is too far for my arms to reach 😂 I tried removing the front grill but wasn’t successful.

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

I think removing the bumper is your best option, it’s not very difficult and once removed gives you good access to what you need. It’s possible the plastic retainer that hold the sensor has detached from the rear of the bumper thus it’s not being held in place. If so some plastic glue should do the trick, if you get it where you are there’s a two part JB Weld product called “plastic weld” that’s very good.

Removing the bumper cover is an easy after you find the 2 hidden screws (which unfortunately I can’t remember where they are).
I suppose this is a 1/2 answer!

Thank you for the responses I was hoping for a lazy quick fix solution but looks like I have some work ahead of me this weekend. Which doesn’t seem to be too hard to do.

Thanks again

Hi, there's a pretty good tutorial on removing the front bumper on Youtube, not tried it myself but seems simple enough, I was going to do soon to have it repainted.

I've used the YT vid when I was replacing a camera on my 2011, dropped the trays, and tried leveraging/flexing the bumper and almost needed stitches stuffing my oversized hand up the gap!

Not as onerous as you'd think, and probably the best time of year to do it. Probably give all the spring nuts that the screws clamp into a good does of Bilt Hamber Hydrate80 and perhaps some kind of anti-seize/sheep juice anti-rust.

Cheers
