Hi all, looking for some direction on suppliers of Catalytic converters.

I have been engine lights on and error codes for both banks but struggling to find any UK suppliers.

I will take the car to get them checked before replacing but has anyone had them changed recently?

We have recently bought a 4.2SC L322 (05 plate) and had a similar thing with engine check lights.
Get the codes read. On ours it was an intermittent fault on one of the O2 sensors. The expert we spoke to (who we bought the car through) has said that he has not heard of a Cat failing on the Jaguar engine, and if it has then it will show a fault on the Cat, not just a sensor fault.

Sensors are around £250 each (4 of them) which is a bit better that £980 + vat for a cat from Land Rover - if you can get hold of one that is!

My gap tool picks up these codes when the eml is on:

P0420-00 (E Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)
P0430-00 ( Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 2)

Sometimes both, sometimes just one bank. Presume theres other codes for the cat specifically?

I was just looking at sensor replacement.

I have the same code but only on bank 1. That code comes from the post cat sensors which are used to monitor the cat. These sensors cost me around £45 + vat from Duckworths 2 years ago. They are from Denso which I think are oem sensors, so probably worth changing those first.

I now accept that I may have to replace the cat on bank 1 but for now I just clear the code and drive on.

My emissions were very good at the last MOT so I guess the post cat sensor system is just over sensitive.

It’s been the same for me. Only happens on motorways and have just been checking and clearing the code for about 6 months.

Figured it might be time to start trying to solve it! Thanks for letting me know what sensors to start with!

I get exactly the same code on my '05' VW Beetle Cabriolet!

£45 sounds very cheap for O2 sensors, we got some LR ones and they were £250 each!!

What I have been doing with my Beetle is when the tank gets around 1/4 full, shove a bottle of 'CataClean' through it, then clear the codes, and it seems to run OK for a few weeks. I have noticed (may not be significant) but it seems to occur more in wet weather.

I bought a little OBD2 readr off eBay (think its was Torque-Pro or similar) was less than £15 quid and links to your phone, gives you loads of different readouts on the display (MPG, fuel used, fuel rate Instant MPG, Average MPG etc) and allows you to read and clear the codes.

I got my Denso post cat Lambda sensors from Parts in Motion at around £50’ish each.
