How to replace camera module

Could anyone advise me how to replace the camera module on a 2011 L322 please?

I have a replacement given to me by the previous owner,he told me it's under the front passenger seat.

Is this correct? Also how simple/complicated job is it likely to be?

I have a reasonable mechanical aptitude and good selection of tools,can turn my hand to most things.

Many thanks in advance

I might be peeing in the wind here but are you sure its a camera module you have as the workshop manual refers to the following;

The rear view camera is located under the rear spoiler on the upper tail door, adjacent to the center high mounted stop lamp. The rear view camera is connected directly to the touch screen display via a co-axial cable. The rear view camera transmits a wide angle, color image of the area at the rear of the vehicle which is displayed on the touch screen display when reverse gear is selected.

The signal for the camera comes from the TCM as described here:

When reverse gear is selected, the TCM provides a reverse gear signal to the integrated head unit over the high speed CAN bus. On receipt of the reverse gear signal, the integrated head unit will instruct the touch screen display to display the image from the rear view camera.

Does the part you have look like this by any chance?

Hi there

The module is identical to the one pictured as far as I can see.

I was having my Oil Cooler replaced by my local independent last week along with a service and so I asked them to do fit this part.

They actually questioned as to if it was actually the module and not the camera.

However change it they did and all is now working as it should with reverse view selection and the touch screen camera functions too.
