Wales 2003 Range Rover SE Td6 Zambezi Silver

OK, I have done a little research and this is what I have come up with.

3 audio systems fitted.

Base system:
CD, cassette or Minidisc
2 speakers in each front door
1 speaker in each rear door

Power Amp System:
CD, cassette or Minidisc
Power Amp
1 centre mounted speaker
3 speakers in each front door
1 speaker in each rear door

DSP Amp System:
CD, cassette or Minidisc
DSP unit
1 centre mounted speaker
3 speakers in each front door
1 speaker in each rear door
1 Sub woofer in rear

.......................

According to my research the Power amp or DSP options are fitted in the rear nearside of the car, I have the 9 speaker system so presumably have a power amp, but I cant see anything in that area of the car. Maybe its rather small and tucked away somewhere?!

Anyway, I would still like to fit a sub woofer but dont know if I need to have a DSP or similar fitted. Can I utilise some existing wiring in this area? I assume the connection pictured below are related.

OK, if you have an amp fitted in that area and those wires are still free, I guess those connectors are for sat nav or similar. Looks like I have a custom set up then, with no amp but the 9 speakers (if that would work). Yep I'm pretty confused myself now, may just give up on the idea. No longer FF owner but still interested. The cupboard was bare lol

My cubby area is empty. Seems like the thin black loom at the bottom is the audio loom (one wire goes to the aerial box and a few more go to an audio ground). Yours has the extra wires for the amp taped to this loom.

The connectors I originally pointed out are actually part of a different (thicker) loom, so could be for something unrelated. Sat/TV etc.

So, as I have no amp fitted, I must have a totally different radio head unit which directly powers the speaker. Looks like I will have to forget trying to fit an amp or sub. You should be ok though, as you will probably be able to run some wires from the existing amp direct to a sub. You will have no control of the sub from your main unit though, just bass, treble, fader etc. so make sure you get a sub with some sort of volume control. No longer FF owner but still interested. Not sure if the pre-facelift cars were different but, on my 2007 the sub is in that same cubby but further towards the front of the car. You have to remove the trim to get at it though.

Yeah, I know, there isn't a sub there. I was showing an empty space where the amp would be if I had one lol No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

The sub is behind the carpeted panel just forward of the cubby hole where your amp is fitted. You should be able to see part of the black plastic enclosure peeping from behind it when you remove the access panel. According to the manual if you only have the normal amp fitted you don't have the sub as standard. Having said that according to the same manual I should have an amp to go with my 9 speakers, but I don't. Seems nothing is standard on RRs Razz No longer FF owner but still interested. Yeah at least you have the amp, so you will be able to fit an off the peg sub by taking a feed off it. I'm stuck with what I have Crying or Very sad The Kenwood units look quite tasty. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE
