so i've had a issue were i need to switch the car ignition on and off untill i hear a single beep. when i hear this and then press the ignition button again, the car will start.

it used to take a few minutes, but the process is getting longer and longer. to the tune of 15 minutes.

once driving, it can work as normal.

could this be down to a low-voltage battery?

Checking the voltage is certainly the first thing to do, yours will probably have two batteries and if one has failed the other will do a good job of helping out until it dies...

Check the voltage on both, you can measure the main battery on the jump start posts O/S under the bonnet, to check the second battery remove the O/S rear boot side panel, this can take a lot of force, put your hand up and under the recess, there are some handy slots to get a hand in and give a good pull towards the other side of the boot, you will think it won't come but just pull harder... Check voltage on the battery posts

Both batteries want to be around 12.6 volts measured and hour or so after switch off...  Pete

The main battery ended up going dead after multiple tries.

I got a new one from Halfords and still no luck, when I put my foot on the brake it doesn't do anything.


Stop Start Battery has been dead and inactive for about 2 years and hasn't been an issue.

I still feel like i need to wait for the beep before it starts but can figure out what it indicates, might just bite the bullet and buy a StopStart battery tomorrow. reset the BMS and see where I go from there.
