I have an Autel AP200 on order and a volt meter. I didn’t have time yesterday but will check all the voltages when running again tonight if I get time. 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.

Drain the battery down and then monitor the voltages as it's charged by the car with reference to AGM charging strategies. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Steve Parker’s have now added the below page to their website. Only when they order it they use a different number as this one is obsolete despite it being what JLR’s computer kicks out. They said it’s a JLR mistake and they know the correct number but won’t tell me. All they said is it’s a flooded battery and is 90ah 950cca.

Guessing a Varta battery. He was insistent that an ‘aftermarket’ battery would cause issues. Not sure if brands make battery’s different for oems?! I thought it’s just a sticker if the brands are the same along with the ah & cca…

I think I am going to swap like for like and forget about it. This is getting a bit boring! 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.

Hi there, I would suggest it is worth a call to Tayna batteries. They may be able to advice. Service and knowledge from them is very good and at a reasonable price too. I have used them for years and never ever had any issues.

When in doubt…

Let’s hope this solves the drain issue, I can but hope. 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.

It’s been a good few weeks now and the battery seems to hold charge so my fear of a drain seems to have been put to bed (touch wood).

A question I now have - does my 07-09 L322 have a smart alternator?

I ask because when running the car with a bad AGM battery the voltage was 14.5v, after swapping the battery to a new non-AGM it reads closer to 13.5v while running. Both tested after start up when cold.

Lastly, I never did get a clear answer about the correct battery for the car from JLR. 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.
