This was the most recent one that liked the bonnet of the Evoque and was about 3cm long. I’d rather be bitten by midges ! V8 or else ...

The only insect repellent that has ever really worked for me is jungle formula which has a high DEET content.
It works for me, as I have to be careful, as four bites from a Notch-horned cleg-fly ended up with me in casualty as my legs were so swollen i could barely walk, Big Cry the bites hurt like hell Shocked

I have no connection to the product, but have used this all over the word for years, nothing else seems to work as well.

Sounds like you going to need DDT swingfog to go camping in the highlands then.

Those who've served in the tropics know what I mean.

I shall keep an eye out for them me thinks. Also on my understanding, horse flies don't actually bite, they just scrape the skin away to get to the blood. I can't be doing with that happening on my dodgy broken foot, it would set me back weeks I reckon. I'll get t the jungle formula and the rest of brood can use skin so soft. I've gotta be very careful at the moment as foot is still slightly infected.

Deer ticks carrying Lyme Disease are what I fear most these days out in the countryside. The spread of this problem could make some areas of the countryside with high density deer populations no go areas in the near future. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Well, the little blighters got me. Skin so soft didn't really work for me, nobody else got bitten. Perhaps they don't like Welsh blood lol.

Looks like you got off lightly there Bb……

The reaction can be a lot worse …….

They say there’s a lot of similarities between Welsh blood and Scots blood see …!

There’s tasty now see !’

Once blooded , you will be immune for the future …

I thought I got off lightly too TST, I don't think they been so bad here this year, probably because it's been very windy. But still been very nice though weather wise.
I had to go to Inverness a couple of times, on the drive up here from Wales, I picked my daughter up from Lichfield and hit a massive pot hole, put a bulge in the nsr tyre, didn't realise until I got up here. So googled a tyre place in Inverness and went to Ness tyres on harbour road. They were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them. I also got a puncture on the osr tyre too which they repaired at the same time. Lo and behold, went to the Highland wildlife park, tyre gone down again, went back to Ness tyres, found another puncture on the repaired tyre on the sidewall, What's the chances eh? Another new tyre, so they ordered me another tyre for next day and promptly replaced. They even knocked off the cost of the previous puncture repair, absolutely fantastic service. It's been Great up here so far, heading home Sunday. Going up Glenn strathfarrar tomorrow for a bit of gentle off roading.
