Charging System Fault

Yesterday I lovingly recieved the above message from my RR. Just after I had gifted new tyres, pads and disc. How ungrateful I thought. I managed to get to work and using a multi meter a found the voltage was 12.3v when not running and 11.5v when running. call the recovery company and he duely measeured the voltage from the back of the alternator and got a lower reading than me. Seems the alternator is shot, and after watching it running it does seem a bit slow.

On the plus side at least I've moved into 32MPG for the first time Big Cry Big Cry

hey ho another expensive present for my RR.

My advice, from experience is get it changed now, once bad they dont get any better they just get a lot worse very quickly.
