Check coolant level

Went to look at a 4.4 sdv8 and it had check coolant level on the dash… had a few other issue like damaged headliner due to block drains and causing water ingress which I’m happy to take a punt on but the check coolant level the guy claims it’s a dodgy sensor would you keep looking or run a mile? Current stable:

Is the coolant level low?

If it is just a dodgy sensor, it wouldn't put me off. But if the present owner hasn't bothered to fix it, what else has he not bothered fixing??

Personally I would have run a mile at the first mention of 'blocked sunroof drains' let alone having the 'check coolant' light as well. _______________________________________________

Sunroof drains is a fairly easy, if not quick, fix and not a lot of money if you can do it yourself.

Coolant loss could be a lot of things including the common failure of the heater pipe at the rear which goes under the subframe, you can use a length of hose to replace it.

Or it could be the oil cooler or any number of hoses....

If the price is cheap enough then why not... Pete

As the miles creep up and the rubber gets older, they can use a little bit of coolant, especially as the SDV8 has about 15,000 miles of pipework. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Think I am going to leave it as while it runs nice I have only just spotted a 50k mile gap in the service history. Have been told it was serviced locally but no evidence of this… I’m guessing this would put most people off too Current stable:
