On Saturday I collected my 2016 SDV8 which has covered 54000 miles. So far I am very pleased with it just and an improvement over my old 2012 L320 which had covered 64000 miles.

My only slight concern is the transmission smoothness when selecting Drive or Reverse when the car is cold. There is a slight shunt .... More than I've experienced with other autos - including the six speed gearbox in my 5 litre L320. Very quickly the transmission warms and the selection of Drive or Reverse is smooth with just the slight change in engine note.

Is this slight shunt just a quirk of this 8 speed transmission or do I potentially have an issue out of the ordinary? (the car has six months warranty)

Get the fluid level checked, get a dealer or Indy with dealer diagnostic kit to make sure you have the latest gearbox software. Reset the throttle by holding down the accelerator, Turing on the ignition and holding for 30 seconds then turn off the ignition and release the pedal. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Time for a pan and fluid change with a recalibration as a starting point. Also fresh fluids in the transfer case and two differentials. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

I had similar with mine & it went away after a gearbox flush.

It may be worth getting one anyway for piece of mind - search 'Bodsy' on this forum.

I hadn't't realised mine had deteriorated until after the gearbox oil change - then realised that I could no longer feel the car changing gear.
