As this is my first post, I would like to share my happiness with you all to be a new member of the L322 scene, and I am very excited to dive into 'the art of L322 maintenance'!!!

I will post an intro of my 4.4 TDV8 (MY12) in the upcoming days, but already have a question regarding a squeeky belt that will need to be fixed in the upcoming weeks;

I am looking for a good and complete kit that includes all the parts that might need replacement when replacing the 2 belts, so pulleys, tensioners, belts etc. I have found 2 different kits from the same UK seller on ebay (maltingsoffroadltd):

one with aftermarkets parts and Dayco belts for 250-ish euro

the other with genuine LR parts for the double 500-ish euro.

1) Any body have any experience with this aftermarket kits (allmakes4x4?)? I understood Dayco is good, but what about the rest. Does the quality justify the price for the genuine set? Or is the aftermarket one just as good?

2) any other things i might as well change while we are at it? i read something here about the bearing of the fan?

3) would it better/cheaper to source the individual parts in France (where I live) / EU? If so what is a good address on my side of the channel?

All I can say is that Maltings sent me an after market tensioner by mistake and then sent me a genuine one and told me to keep the first one.
The quality was like night and day. The first ones bearing was loose when spun where as the genuine one was tight and smooth.
I replaced everything with genuine bearings, pulleys and tensioner. You may as well change the waterpump as well while you're in there.
I also put on a new alternator.
First sign of cold weather and I have a squeek again though and that was using genuine belts!

o dear, there's nothing else we can do about squeeky belts? I'm not into spending 1000 euro on replacing belts etc while it wasn't their time yet and will squeek anyways...

On the other hand, I do read that someone here was referring to an 'official fix' by replacing the alternator bracket with an upgraded one. (LR025823)

Is there any more info on this? how do i know if i already have an upgraded bracket version? Were these factory installed from a certain year on? They are not cheap, like 200-300 euro, so good to be able to know more 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8 VOGUE

Maybe first identify the source of the squeak as replacing everything may be overkill. Spray some water on the running belt and if it stops the noise it's a worn or contaminated ( Oil or antifreeze) belt or a tensioner gone weak and you could get away with just replacing these. If it doesn't stop the noise then it's a pulley bearing (inc alternator bearing) which is going to be a more expensive and involved job. The difficult practical part is removing the fan and shroud to get access which is why people recommend replacing everything inc other 'service items' - waterpump, alternator and AC compressor if they can afford it in one hit to avoid having to do it again. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Thank you for the reply! My local garage guy indeed did the water test and the squeek dissappeared instantly. But indeed as you say to dive in deep and spend some time changing a belt makes me wonder if i should do it all so i will not be suprised by a tensioner issue in a few months …

I also dont think the belts are that old looking back in its history, so i was intrigued by the service bulletin mentioning the bracket. Cheers! 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8 VOGUE

For parts I found auto-doc.fr to be a good site. I used them when living in France and have also used their UK site when back in UK.

As I understand it,they are a German company with access from varioous country codes.

I have been happy with their service and prices. Worth a look. John

am sure this has been answered but is it not possible to just replace bearings? Its actually a sport

There is a factory upgrade tensioner LR022810 worth doing. 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8 AB low mileage - a peach

Update:

I ordered the full set of 7 original LR parts as mentioned above through RLD-autos.com and came to a total of 770 euro inc shipping.
Had my local garage install everything, and came to 4hrs of labour. 380 euro including material, fluids etc.

All runs super smooth, not a single sound, and i have the idea the car even runs better now ( is that even possible? might be just be me.. I'll keep you up to date if all stays well even in winter, fingers crossed! 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8 VOGUE
