Installing facelift (2017+) seats in a pre-facelift

Hey forum,

I bought a 2015 LWB L405. I like the car but some thing just don’t sit right to me, the seats are one! It has the massage seat option which is nice but the cooling is terrible and the base is not very comfortable, it’s like the cushion has collapsed but the almost new passenger seat is not great either.

I hear good things about the facelift seats. Has anyone retrofitted them? Is the cooling function any better?

I felt very much the same about the seat base when I got my 2017. I found (by accident) that if you push the base further out (towards the steering wheel) - it suddenly becomes much more comfortable. Worth a shot!

As for 2018- seat conversion, I doubt it would be impossible but sounds like the electric integration would be a tricky endeavour (not that I know!) . Baring in mind you would need to swap the door cards also as seat controls are on the doors in later cars.

The problem with the facelift seats is that the controls are in the door not in the seat unit, so I suspect it's a whole world of pain, if in fact it is actually achievable. I have had my drivers seat cushion repadded by a specialist car upholsterer and now like new, if the base has started to collapse then it won't be cooling as well, also worth checking filter for cooling. Only the thoughts of a rambling old man Thumbs Up

Benefit of getting an upholsterer to repad is that you tell them how hard or soft you want it.

Good shout on the filters, I replaced these on my L322 and they were not too pricey. You could just clean/hoover them - my L322 ones were too far gone sadly.

Can you recommend an upholsterer? The one local to myself in Southampton is winding his business down and retiring.

I really am not a fan of the seat bases, and would like it to be like my late L322, which had fabulously comfortable seats! 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I would stick my neck out and say its impossible for a few reasons. Cost for one, the wiring looms would all need "enhancing!" Can-Bus will be a completely different 'language' so ECU's wouldn't communicate... Safety systems like seat airbags wouldn't be compatible... To mention but a few...

Morning GaryRR

I used these guys, https://www.dkschweizer.co.uk/

I am not sure they will travel but they may well do, it took only 2 hours to do my seat bases, so maybe a trip out.

I would say that when they redid mine i would say they were more comfortable than the L322, just my thoughts.

I was very pleased with the service.

I don't mind driving somewhere for the right people to do the job.

Was there a particular name of foam you went for?

Thank you. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Nope I can't recall, just speak to them tell them what you want, they are very accommodating and very busy.
